Charles Reed Cagle was born in Clarksville, Texas, in 1962 and reared there. Mr. Reed Cagle and his wife Donna have been married for almost 30 years. They resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado with their son from 1999 to 2017, before returning to Plano, Texas in 2018. For 35 years, Charles Reed Cagle has been working in many parts of the energy industry.

Mr. Reed Cagle began his career with Kinlaw Oil Corporation in 1986 as an associate. He departed in 1996 to help start a tiny independent energy company in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Cagle founded Heartland Energy, Inc., later known as HEI, in 1997, and served as President and Chief Executive Officer. He enlisted operators, drilling contractors, geophysicists, engineers, service businesses, and a variety of energy industry professionals, following the lead of joint venture partners. Charles Reed Cagle entered the drilling service business in 2006, financing and building a 2000 horsepower drilling rig capable of drilling to depths of 20,000 feet.


Charles Reed Cagle began working in the mining business in the United States and South America in 2011. He bought a gold mining concession in Oregon, which yielded approximately 89,000 ounces of gold. Charles Reed Cagle has worked in Chile on the financing and day-to-day management of a copper and gold processing factory in Copiapo. He developed a patented procedure to remove and neutralize harmful substances from liquids while recovering valuable metals as a result of his mining activity. This technology is being used in Copiapo and has the potential to be employed in the mining industry all over the world.


Charles Reed Cagle began advising with numerous midsize independent oil businesses after returning to Texas, leveraging his years of knowledge to streamline operations and direct his clients into lower-risk horizontal prospects in Colorado and Texas. He advises with a large commercial landscaping company in East and Central Texas in addition to his oil and gas clients.


Reed enjoys fishing, hunting, cycling, and other outdoor activities in his spare time.

He's out on the golf course with his son.
